Building Sustainable Competency
Infinity Solutions is passionate about enhancing the competency of your Programme and Project Managers, recognising that stronger delivery capability leads to faster transformation and accelerated realisation of strategic KPIs. We approach this in five distinct phases:
- Assessment of Competency & Maturity
We begin by agreeing on key capability verticals within a competency matrix. As skill development takes time, we recommend defining broad areas that align with organisational priorities. Typical verticals may include Portfolio Management, Programme Management, Project Management, Performance Management (Delivery), Training, Mentoring & Coaching (Staff), and Establishing a Centre of Excellence (PMO).
- Creation of a Maturity Matrix
A standard five-tier maturity matrix is developed across the agreed verticals to determine organisational maturity following the initial assessment. Common tiers include: Reactive, Emerging Discipline, Effective Implementation, Measurable Returns, and Strategic Innovation. For example, in the “Project Management” vertical, an organisation broadly applying PRINCE2 principles—but doing so inconsistently—might be classified as Tier 2 – Emerging Discipline.
- Development of Bespoke Capability Plans
Based on assessed maturity levels, we craft tailored development plans for each vertical. These may include establishing delivery or support functions, defining best practices, implementing training programmes, and embedding mentoring support via a Quality Assurance framework.
- Project Manager Competency Plans
Subject to your organisation’s standards, Infinity Solutions can help create individualised development plans aligned with a formal Project Management Standard. These plans define and measure baseline competencies to encourage continuous improvement and enhance delivery outcomes.
- Creation of a Project Management Standard
To reinforce consistency and drive excellence, we develop a Project Management Standard tailored to your operational context. This framework formalises minimum standards, supports performance measurement, and provides a structure for continuous capability uplift across delivery teams.
